Agenda Item 1

(Richard) Fines for infractions committed by a member in a single month (late payments, no-shows, etc.) shall be capped at $50. This does not include bounced check fees or recompense for coop property loss or damage.

Over $50 in fines may still be levied in a single month so long as a single month's infractions do not account for more than $50 of the total amount levied.

Members may request past fines be reduced to $50 per single month's infractions if those infractions occurred on or after March 1st, 2018. Such requests must be sent to the house treasurer.

Agenda Item 2

(Richard) Each resident member is limited to two vehicles parked in coop parking spaces.

CQ: What triggered the need for this item?

POI: The new handicap parking spots made for a tighter parking situation. There are other factors,but currently it is becoming difficult for people to park.

CQ: Can we have a system of parking stickers?

POI: I would be in favor of that.

POI: I can sell one of my cars, that'll free up a spot.

CQ: What about all the people who don't live here?

POI: There are definitely a lot of people who don't live here and yet park here. We'll have to do something else about that.

Concern: Should we amend this to collect plates numbers from everyone and see who's left.

POI: I don't believe we'd need to pass an agenda for someone to start collecting that information.

Agenda Item 3

(Richard) The Steward is authorized to order the towing of illegally parked vehicles. The house must be notified via the mailing list before towing and later in the Steward's monthly report. Due diligence should be taken to determine an illegally parked vehicle's owner and to give the owner an opportunity to move their vehicle.

CQ: What are the cases of illegally parked vehicles?

POI: Parking in fire lanes, handicap-accessible lanes, and places that are not parking spaces of any sort.

CQ: Do we have to notify someone that they can't park in certain planes?

POI: We have our no-parking zones marked.

FA: The Steward may name someone to temporarily take this responsibility [accepted].

Agenda Item 4

(Richard) A member must receive a printed notice within 48 hours of being fined by the house if either:

  • The member's email address is not on file in the house electronic bookkeeping system, or
  • The member has informed the bookkeeper in writing that they prefer to receive physical notices.

POI: It became apparent that many members never know they're being fined until they receive a notice to vacate.

POI: This used to be a norm in previous finance-team term.

CQ: What information would be on the notices?

POI: The same information in the current email notices.

FA: Name the officer responsible as the income bookkeeper. [accepted]

FA: Include information on recourse available to the member (discussion with finance team, payment plans, appeal to house, etc.). [accepted]
